William Katavolos, Douglas Kelly and Ross Littell
Laverne Inc New York 1952
William Katavolos (b. 1924) grew up in Long Island and studied at Pratt Institute before collaborating with fellow Pratt alumni Ross Littell and Douglas Kelly to produce a collection called “The New Furniture” for Laverne Intertional in the late 1940s and 1950s.
This included the 1952 T Chair, now in leading musuem collection from the Louvre to MoMA. The graceful design employs minimal use of industrial and natural materials, with three metal legs supporting a beautifully aged leather sling seat.
Saddle leather sling with chromed steel legs and enameled steel “T” frame.
